Speaking at an event today, the Venerable Kirama Wimalajothi urged the public and Buddhist monks to provide information they have on such activities to the Bodu Bala Sena.
“Like an army there are several people operating in this country with NGO assistance trying to convert innocent Buddhists,” he said.
He recalled a recent incident in Tissamaharama where a Christian Pastor, who also operates a children’s home, was arrested and then produced in court.
However he said the pastor was freed on the advice of the National Child Protection Authority after they refused to take the children of the home into their care.
Meanwhile the Bodu Bala Sena also dismissed reports that it was against Muslims in Sri Lanka.
Program coordinator of the Bodu Bala Sena Dilantha Withanage said that sms messages had been circulated urging Muslims to leave the country or not go out at night.
