Hema’s opens New Hospital in Thalawathugoda, Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s Hemas group, which has interests in consumer goods, power, leisure and healthcare, opened a 1.3 billion rupee 60 bed hospital in a fast growing suburb of the capital Colombo.

 “We decided on Thalawatugoda as the location following a research conducted by the company,” Chamila Ariyananda, a doctor and general manager of the hospital said Tuesday after the hospital was declared open by Sri Lanka’s President Mahidna Rajapaksa.

“The suburb is close to several fast developing towns and also near the entry point of the newly built southern expressway to Galle and its outer circular road.”

The hospital is built to provide indoor and channel services through the services of 200 leading specialist consultants.

Built on 62,000 square feet the facility will includes operating theaters, intensive care unit and a 24 hour emergency unit.

Hemas also has hospitals in Sri Lanka’s Wattala and Galle towns.
