The persons responsible for ordering them to harass me and my family are currently living freely, the popular Sri Lankan singer said, during a press conference today.
Gunathilake said he is pardoning the individuals found guilty by court with a clear conscience and that people make mistakes.
However, he said that the required persons are not among those convicted and that he will inform the President of his decision to pardon them.
Ten former PSD officers of then President Chandrika Bandaranaike were ordered to pay Rs. 2 million compensation to Rukantha and Chandraleka in their harassment case and were sentenced to four and half year in prison by the Panadura High Court on August 01.
Nine of the ten suspects received four and half years of rigorous imprisonment while the other suspect, who is disabled, received a four and half year sentence of simple imprisonment.
Each of the suspects were also ordered to pay Rs.100,000 each to both Rukantha and Chandraleka which amounted to a total of Rs.2 million in compensation.
They will serve an addition one year of simple imprisonment if the amounts cannot be paid.
The seventh defendant in the case was released without charges by the court.
